How was it? Engaging with your inner child this past week? If you are unsure of what I am referencing, pause and check out my last article, "Feeling Drained, Unfulfilled? You Inner Child Can Help." This article features five activities that might help with reconnecting with our own inner child. For me, Koka, Tyson, and Houdini evoked a whole lot of uncontrollable laughter, so I knocked out two birds with one stone. How about you? Moving into this week, we reflect on the fact that October has come in, spoke, got it's to-go plate and is now backing out of the driveway. In 5 days, November 1 will be here. In 32 days, Thanksgiving will be here in the United States. In 59 days, those who celebrate will be ushering in Christmas. In 66 days, January 1, 2025 will say hello. I know. Shocking. So, I decided that this month, we will conclude the final Sunday in October identifying 3 end of year items you should do just for you.
Subtract What Doesn't Belong

Are you spending your time on the right things? If not, it's time to subtract the distractions and add more of what truly matters. Every time we subtract negative from our lives, we make room for more of the positives. Our lives get a whole lot simpler when we subtract both the physical and emotional clutter that makes our lives unnecessarily complicated. You have heard the expression, "Out with the old, in with the new." In this sense, when we let go of the old that is not working for us, we make room for new experiences that will. Here is one thing to definitely get rid of...
Other People's Judgments...Trash It

Speaking of subtracting what doesn't matter, how much energy do you waste, worrying about other people's opinions? You cannot control how other people feel or how they receive you. Whatever you say, whatever you do, is filtered through their own internal lens through which they filter their world. Instead of seeking validation from others, focus on cultivating inner peace and self-acceptance. When you're focused on personal growth, you'll have less time to dwell on the opinions of others. Remember, your worth isn't determined by what others think of you. By freeing yourself from the shackles of other people's opinions, you can truly focus on what matters most: your own journey and passions.
Put Your Heart and Soul Into It

We often find ourselves chasing the “next best thing,” falling into a cycle of constantly seeking what’s new, better, or just out of reach. This endless search can leave us feeling drained and unfulfilled. Some of us may even become so disillusioned that we hesitate to start anything, waiting for the perfect inspiration to strike. But the truth is, we don’t need to wait for something shiny and new to ignite our passion. We can begin right here, right now, with all that we already have. Believe in your heart that each day is filled with purpose and that every moment holds its own value. Your life is full of blessings—people and opportunities that need you just as much as you need them. Pour your heart and soul into what’s right in front of you. Cherish your relationships, embrace the present, and watch as beautiful things begin to unfold.
As we conclude this final Sunday of October, remember that embracing these final weeks of the year with intention can truly set the tone for a fulfilling transition into the new year. Subtract the distractions, let go of any judgments that weigh you down, and pour your heart into the things and people that bring you joy and purpose. Every moment offers us a chance to create meaning and connection. So, as we move toward the holidays and beyond, make space for what uplifts you. Here's to a season of inner peace, joy, and finding strength in simplicity. Embrace each day, each moment, with the passion you deserve. Please remember though, wherever you are on this wellness journey, do not worry about getting it perfect; just get it going. Until next time. Happy reading!
In a world that encourages us to spend, spend, spend, let's find the passion in nurturing our wallets. Here is how.
"Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us." ~Hal Borland

I think I needed this blog for multiple reasons. I definitely need to put all 3 into practice.
